Hi Elizabeth!
1. La matita e la penna sono sul libro.
I changed "è" (is) with "sono" (are) because "la penna e la matita" are two objects. I changed "nel" with "sul" because I think the sentence you want to say is: The pencil and the pen are on the book. "Nel" means "inside".
2. Ok! Also "a scuola" is correct, maybe a bit more. I think "a scuola" is like "at school", and "nella scuola" is like "inside the school".
3. "nella" instead of "nelle" because classe is singular.
4. Ok!

Grazie mille Giulo... :) nel is correct. I wanted the pen and pencil inside the book. Other than that tutto bene... grazie!!! grazie!!! grazie!!! ...lol nahhh your English is fine... :))))

Ok, sorry! Just a final remark I previously forgot to write: "inside the book" is "nel libro", you don't have to use the article "il". For every masculine noun whose article is "il" you don't need to write it, like in this sentence.
If you have a masculine name whose article is "lo", like "lo zaino" (the backpack), you write "nello zaino", as with the feminine article "la", joining the two words. Please tell me if I'm doing some mistake with the english :)

Ho capito. About your English usage. It is very good. If I had to comment, it would be about your punctuation's and capitalization's, but I am not sure if you are writing using them as you are because you are in here. Otherwise, all is okay. Grazie mille. I know in Italian Caps are not important but in English they are. It is just a slight difference.
