"Va bè" is wrong. The most correct form is " Va be' ", but there are also other commonly accepted forms, nowadays, such as "Vabbè" (my favourite) or "Va beh".

" Va be' " is the short form of "Va bene" and is used as interjection. It can be translated as "That's fine" or "It's ok" or "Alright" (with a negative meaning) or other expressions.

As for "A chi la racconti?", it literally means "Who are you telling?", but the real meaning is "Who do you think you're fooling?"

So, the sentence can be translated as "Yeah, right... Who do you think you're fooling?"

Here is how the conversation went. I friend someone from a learn Italian site and he wrote this on my wall.
Credo che tu parli italiano.
and I replied with this, Ho appena iniziato a imparare l'Italiano. Conosco solo poche parole.
Then he said, "sì va bè a chi la racconti"

So my question is does he think I am not being honest with him? Is he joking or being bad with me. How should I answer him?

thanks Sal so much... :)

Maybe, he was surprised by your language skills and he thought you were being way too modest.
So, maybe, he's just joking.
But I can't say it for sure.
