It's "un uomo".
You cannot use the apostrophe, because "uomo" is masculine.
The ONLY case in which you DO have to use the apostrophe is when there is a feminine word beginning with a vowel.
i.e.:
Una automobile => Un'automobila
Una => Un'

I need more information.
Is the original sentence the English one?
Are you giving an order or are you making a statement?

Thanks but can you help me understand what was wrong with voi Sorridete oggi? If I changed it to Sorridete voi, oggi! Would that have been better? grazie

The order of the words is not that important, here. To tell your friends to smile, you need the Imperative Mood, so the use of the pronoun is not recommended.
Moreover, even if your translation is technically ok, it doesn't mean we use that sentence to express that concept.
i.e.:
"Try and catch it"
Literal translation = "Prova e prendilo"
[ Grammatically correct ]
The way we say it = "Prova a prenderlo"
