How to use this verb? Can I say, "I wish I have an ice cream." "Io auguro avere un gelato." Some other examples of how to use this verb. Thanks

"Augurare" can be used in sentences like this:

"Ti auguro un Buon Natale"
[ "I wish you a Merry Christmas" ]

"Ti auguro un buon compleanno"
[ "I wish a happy birthday" ]

and so on.

You cannot use "Augurare" in a sentence like "I wish I have an ice cream". You can use "Piacere" [ "To like" ], "Volere" [ "To want" ] or "Desiderare" [ "To desire" ] instead, preferably in the Conditional Mood.

"Mi piacerebbe avere/mangiare/prendere un gelato"

"Vorrei avere/mangiare/prendere un gelato"

"Desidererei avere/mangiare/prendere un gelato" [ BUT mostly used in Present Indicative form, because it sounds a just bit weird ;) ]
