Remember what I said about "possessive adjectives". ;)
You don't have to use "IL".

"Questo è tuo padre?"

OR

"È questo tuo padre"
[ More emphasis on one specific person ]

---

"Sì, questo è mio padre"

OR

"Sì, è questo mio padre"
[ More emphasis on one specific person ]

OR just

"Sì, è mio padre"
[ "Questo" is omitted ]

---

"Is that your father?"

->

"Quello è tuo padre?"

OR

"È quello tuo padre?"
[ More emphasis on one specific person ]

You're talking about relatives?

[ YES ]
NO article

[ YES - Augmented word ]
Article on the left of the personal pronoun

[ NO ]
Article on the left of the personal pronoun

---

Just an addition:

If you use "Papà" [ Dad - mostly used by children or if you're talking directly to your father ] instead of "Padre" and "Mamma" [ Mom - mostly used by children or if you're talking directly to your mother ] instead of "Madre", you can use the article.

e.g.

Quello è il mio papà
Quella è la mia mamma

Sorry, I copy-pasted the answer from the other thread and the errors are still there. :/

Where I said "personal pronoun" I meant "possessive adjectives". ;)
